NATIVE HEALING PROGRAM
The Native Healing Program (NHP) is an alcohol and drug treatment center located in Rapid City S.D. The Native Healing Program was founded in 1970’S to serve the Native American population living in Pennington County and surrounding Native communities.
NHP reaches out to community resources and promotes collaboration among diverse intergenerational groups; involves our communities as a whole in finding solutions; and gives people the tools to live healthy life styles.
Stanley W. La Roque, MSW, LAC, CS
Mr. La Roque started working in the field of addiction in 1989 when he became a treatment trainee at Spokane Addiction Recovery Centers in an inpatient setting. He stayed in their employment until he graduated in 2000 with his bachelor degree. He went to his Masters practicum in Domestic Violence with Herb Robinson at Tapio Counseling center in Spokane WA. After graduation he went to Alaska and helped develop a program for Inhalant abuse with Dr. Larry Morning Star of Texas. He traveled to different programs to help them set up programs for inhalant abuse. He then went to Yavapai treatment program in Arizona. He went to Keystone Treatment Center before coming to Native Healing program. After the building burnt down in 2010 he went to the Standing Rock Reservation and worked with the Native population and set up IOP program and mentoring program. He was then requited to come back to Native Healing and after a stint as the clinical Supervisor he became the director.

Marcie Sprague MSW, LAC, PIP
Marcie is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. Marcie graduated from Black Hills State University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Services. She then attended Oglala Lakota College and obtained all credits required to become an addiction counselor. In 2015 Marcie graduated with honors from the University of North Dakota with a Masters in Social Work. In 2016 she became a Licensed Certified Social Worker. Marcie has recently completed her supervision requirements and will be testing soon for her Private in Practice (PIP) license. In October 2018, she completed a 200 hour historical trauma master class and now specializes in Historical Trauma Recovery. In 2019, she plans to fulfill the requirements to become a trainer for Historical Trauma. Currently Marcie is working towards certification in a treatment modality called Brainspotting which is very effective for individuals that have experienced trauma. Marcie incorporates mindfulness, meditation and body awareness into her individual and group sessions. She practices holistic healing approaches as well as the Lakota Culture to address trauma, grief, addictions and other issues individuals may be facing.
Cholena Pourier, Is the Administrative Assistant at the OST Native Healing Program in Rapid City, SD. She is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and grew up on the Pine Ridge Reservation in the Rockyford Community. She graduated high school from Little Wound High School in Kyle SD. Attended Western Dakota Technical Institute and graduated from the Health Unit Coordinator/ Patient Care Tech Program as well as the A.A.S. Medical Transcription program, and pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management through National American University. Cholena is a certified Tribal Administrative Assistant through Falmouth Institute, CPR Certified, and HIPAA Certified. Cholena is currently enrolled in the AAPC courses at Great Plains Tribal Health Board and will test in September 2017 to be certified as a professional coder, and also taking courses with North American Tribal Organization and test in March 2017 for National Certification in 3rd Party Revenue Cycle Generation Patient Registration and Healthcare Administration Services. Cholena also has over 10 years of experience working in the administrative field, and has been an active community service member working with non-profits and writing grants for over 5 years.
Theresa A. Bush
Theresa A. Bush, is the Secretary at the OST Native Healing Program here in Rapid City, SD. Theresa is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. She grew up in Rapid City but loved staying with her grandparents on the Pine Ridge Reservation helping with their ranch. She attended Stevens High School in Rapid City. She then went on to get certified as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant). She then worked as a CNA until she went on to attend college at Western Dakota Technical Institute and graduated in 2007 with a diploma in Disabilities/Human Services. After several years working in the medical field Theresa continued her college career and went on to pursue an Associates Degree in Computer Programming/Networking. She would like to return to school to complete an Associates Degree in Social Work in the near future.
Janelle is the counselor trainee with NHP and is from Kyle SD. Janelle has six year of experience in the counseling field as a substance abuse counselor. Janelle's expertise is with conducting alcohol and drug assessments and also working with adolescents who have experience grief and trauma. Janelle believes in the Lakota methods of healing through tradition. She does have (3) years of college and plans on completing her bachelor's degree in the near future.
Vanessa Palmier BSW
Vanessa is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, and from the Wakpamni District. She has a Bachelor in Social Work from OLC-He Sapa. Vanessa works in Native Healing Program's Billing Department as a CRCS-I and has over 10 years of case management experience. Vanessa has worked for three years in case management with the Rapid City homeless shelters. Vanessa is also a Certified South Dakota DUI Facilitator and a Certified MRT Domestic Violence Facilitator, she is also HIPAA Certified.
